For 50 years, Twins Trust (formerly TAMBA) has been the leading UK charity dedicated to supporting families with twins, triplets and more.
Founded at a time when the needs of multiple birth families were largely overlooked, the charity began by helping parents build local support networks, creating opportunities to share experiences, practical advice and emotional support.
Today, Twins Trust works to ensure that every family with multiples feels informed, supported and connected. Our vision is a world where twins, triplets or more, and their families, are understood and valued, with their needs recognised in healthcare, public policy and research. We achieve this by working closely with families, volunteers, healthcare professionals, researchers and partner organisations to improve outcomes and create lasting change.
Our mission is threefold: to inform, support and empower families with twins, triplets or more throughout their lives; to build strong and lasting connections within the multiples community; and to ensure that the unique needs of multiple birth families are recognised by professionals and reflected in policy, care standards, workplace practices and research.
Key priorities
During our 2025-2028 strategic period, we are focused on four key priorities.
Empower families by providing trusted, evidence-based information from pregnancy through adulthood, alongside emotional and practical support. We also create opportunities for families to connect with one another and access specialist services, including support following loss and bereavement.
Inform professionals by delivering education and continuing professional development programmes that improve knowledge of multiple pregnancy, birth and postnatal care. We promote evidence-based practice and support professional networks to help improve outcomes for families.
Champion change by ensuring that the experiences of multiple birth families shape policy and decision-making. We advocate for improvements in maternity and neonatal care, campaign for fair parental leave, childcare and workplace policies, and use research and lived experience to influence public debate.
Thrive as an organisation by building a sustainable and resilient charity that can continue delivering impact for future generations. We are investing in our digital infrastructure, strengthening engagement with members, volunteers and supporters, maintaining robust governance and financial management, and developing a high-performing, values-driven team.

We are passionate about supporting multiple birth families, empowering in providing the information and confidence they need to thrive, and impactful in focusing our resources on achieving meaningful and measurable change. Through these commitments, Twins Trust continues to transform the lives of families with multiples across the UK.
Finances
Like many membership organisations, Twins Trust relies on a diverse range of income streams, with membership subscriptions remaining its most significant source of funding. In 2024/25, membership income totalled £609,370 and, together with Gift Aid, accounted for around 57% of overall income. Additional income was generated through donations and legacies, fundraising activities, courses and study days, grants and investment income, contributing to total income of £1.3 million.
The charity’s expenditure is focused on delivering services, support, education, research and campaigning activities for families with multiples. In 2024/25, Twins Trust reported a surplus of £54,100, strengthening reserves and supporting future investment. While the charity remains financially stable, rising operating costs and wider economic pressures mean careful financial planning and income diversification remain key priorities for long-term sustainability.
