Welcome
Thank you for your interest in the role of Chief Executive Officer at Royal Medical Benevolent Fund (RMBF).
The Royal Medical Benevolent Fund (RMBF) is a long-standing and trusted charity supporting doctors and medical students facing hardship. With a mission grounded in compassion, dignity and practical support, RMBF plays a vital role across the medical profession by offering financial assistance, wellbeing support and community connection during some of the most challenging periods of a clinician’s life.
RMBF is a small, collaborative and close-knit charity with 13 staff, an income of approximately £1.8m and reserves of around £38m. Investment returns enable roughly £600,000 of annual grants to doctors and medical students in need. The RMBF Board is engaged and supportive, made up largely of senior medical professionals who balance governance responsibilities with demanding clinical roles.
After 15 years of dedicated and highly respected leadership, our current CEO will retire in May 2026, marking a natural and important moment of transition, and creating a significant moment for the organisation that requires steady, confident and reassuring leadership.
The incoming CEO will need to value this culture, bringing a collaborative, approachable and people-centred leadership style, whilst enabling RMBF to deliver the highest standards of support to hundreds of doctors and medical students in great need, helping to transform their lives. Key priorities include extending RMBF’s reach and profile, ensuring a clear and accessible offer for beneficiaries, maintaining strong governance and regulatory compliance and sound financial management, and overseeing and supporting HR and operational functions.
RMBF is a stable, values-led and impactful organisation, and this is a rare opportunity to lead a prestigious charity that plays a vital role in supporting the medical community.
