Welcome
Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in joining the Board of Trustees at the Premier League Foundation. I am delighted that you are considering contributing your time, experience and insights to our work.
Established in 2010, the Premier League Foundation is an independent charity with a clear purpose: to create positive sporting, health, personal development and educational opportunities for children, young people and communities across England and Wales. We do this by investing Premier League and partner funding in professional football club charities across the Premier League, English Football League and National League.
Today, we are proud to support 106 club charities. Together, we address some of the most pressing societal challenges facing communities and deliver life‑changing impact every day. The Foundation distributes around £34million annually, enabling club charities to employ more than 7,500 staff who work at the heart of their local areas. For every £1 invested through the Premier League Foundation, £21 of social value is generated across education, employment, crime, mental and physical health outcomes.
Since our inception, more than 2.5 million people have benefited from the Premier League Foundation’s events, festivals, and national community and education programmes. This reach and influence demonstrate both the power of football and the importance of strong, values‑driven leadership.
The Board of Trustees plays a vital role in providing strategic leadership and oversight, ensuring the charity remains focused on its mission, charitable objectives and long‑term sustainability. Trustees are also expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and governance, in line with the Nolan Principles of Public Life.
We are currently seeking three exceptional candidates with expertise in policing and community cohesion; safeguarding, education, children and young people; and health and wellbeing, including mental health. These appointments will take effect from September 2026 and will strengthen the Board in supporting the charity to achieve its ambitions. Later this year, the Foundation will also be recruiting its next Chair, as my term comes to an end.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the world’s leading sports charities at an exciting time in its development, under the leadership of the Board and our Chief Executive Officer, Alex White. We very much hope you will consider bringing your skills and perspective to the Premier League Foundation and helping us to strengthen our impact even further.
Thank you once again for your interest. We look forward to learning more about you.
Yours sincerely,
Chris Davies CBE
Chair of the Premier League Foundation
