Welcome
As Chair of the Boad of Trustees at IAM RoadSmart I am delighted that you are considering applying for the role of Chief Executive Officer.
Every journey matters!
Whether you are on four wheels or two, four legs or two, our vision as a charity is for zero deaths on our roads. A challenging target? We believe it is a target worth striving to achieve.
Between four and five people are killed on our roads every day, and more than 75 are seriously injured as a result of collisions. Every life lost means a family in mourning, collisions means that lives are changed forever and the cost to the economy runs to around £40bn per year. Here at IAM RoadSmart we are aiming to change this, through our programme of education and training, and through lobbying for policy changes to make our roads safer for all.
You are joining the charity at a pivotal moment in our journey. Established seventy years ago, we will be marking the anniversary with the support a dedicated headquarters team of over 60 people, a membership of nearly 70,000 over 160 groups across the whole of the United Kingdom and more than 5,000 volunteers, who give generously of their time to support our mission.
We are on a journey of transformation to ensure we are fit for purpose for the next seventy years and beyond.
Transforming the way we work includes expanding the range of services and products we provide to enhance driver education. As we transform, so are the cars we drive, the bikes we ride and the roads we use; and the skills we need to keep us safe on the roads. That is why our mission remains as relevant today as it did seventy years ago.
We are looking for a CEO who shares that vision and will be able to inspire our team and our committed volunteers and members. You will be commercially savvy, able to develop our commercial that will help to grow our business, support our charity and put us on a sustainable footing for the future. You will have a track record of building high‑performing teams, of leading cultural change, and working effectively with Boards.
Do you share our vision – if so, we would love to hear from you.
