Chief Executive
Location: 3-7 Third Avenue, London W10 4RS
Salary: £70,000 - £75,000
Reporting to: The Board of Trustees

As the Chief Executive of The Avenues Youth Project, you'll be at the helm of our mission, providing strategic leadership, fostering key partnerships, and championing the needs of the young people we serve. We’re seeking a visionary leader with strategic acumen, emotional intelligence and a deep empathy for our beneficiaries. You will cultivate a diverse team, galvanise support from stakeholders, and uphold our commitment to inclusivity and excellence. Your collaborative spirit, team-building prowess, and compelling communication skills will maintain our income levels and drive our continued growth in standards and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic
Lead strategic planning and organisational development to achieve our vision
Ensure alignment with our mission, values, and objectives
Oversee day-to-day operations, facilities and financial management
People and values
Cultivate a positive work culture and provide clear leadership in line with our mission and values
Promote an inclusive, innovative, and development-oriented culture
Forge partnerships with patrons, funders, and stakeholders
Build and maintain effective relationships with supporters, funders, and stakeholders
Communicate our successes and impact internally and externally
Enhance our public profile through community initiatives and partnerships
Governance
Collaborate with the Board of Trustees (Executive Committee) to meet legal and financial obligations, manage risk and ensure long-term sustainability
Participate actively in trustee meetings
Work proactively within our policies and objectives
Financial and Administrative
Develop and implement business strategies for short-, medium- and long-term stability
Oversee administrative functions and resource management
Actively support our fundraiser and monitoring manager in engaging with funders
Set fundraising strategies and maintain key funding relationships
Provide transparent reporting to the Board and funders
Review and improve organisational practices
General Responsibilities
Uphold confidentiality and professionalism
Engage positively with staff, young people, trustees and supporters
Attend meetings as required, including outside office hours

Person Specification
As our new Chief Executive, you will bring a diverse skill set and leadership experience essential for thriving in a small charity environment. We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:
Proven leadership experience in the nonprofit sector.
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to engage and empower individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to drive organisational change and growth.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to inspire and motivate staff, partners, donors, and the community.
Sound financial management skills, including budgeting, financial analysis, and fundraising.
Business acumen and entrepreneurial flair for developing sustainable income growth strategies.
Understanding of the social, economic, and educational challenges faced by marginalised young people.
Solid grasp of charity operations, governance, and compliance.
Experience in personnel management, public speaking, and media relations.
Familiarity with youth sector funding streams and grant application processes.
Tech and website proficiency.
