Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Gambling Lived Experience Network (GLEN).

GLEN is an independent charity working to ensure that the voices of people with lived experience of gambling harm meaningfully inform national debate, public policy and system design. At a time of significant reform across the gambling harms system, GLEN exists to ensure those voices are heard clearly, credibly and with influence.

The sector is currently undergoing rapid change, driven by the introduction of the new statutory levy funding model and shifts in commissioning arrangements across research, prevention and treatment. Having already established itself as a trusted presence, GLEN is now strengthening its role within this evolving landscape. Our ambition is to ensure that lived experience perspectives are not diluted, tokenised or excluded, but instead actively shape decisions that affect people’s lives.

Central to this ambition is the role of the Chair. The Chair will provide strategic leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that GLEN delivers its charitable purpose, operates with integrity and accountability, and maintains strong governance while navigating a complex and fast‑moving external environment.

Over the coming period, GLEN will continue to grow in profile, responsibility and influence. The Chair will therefore play a critical role in leading the Board through organisational growth and system change - balancing the need for urgency and impact with effective stewardship, oversight and good governance as the organisation scales.

This appointment is a key component of GLEN’s development plan, reflecting our commitment to strengthening governance capability alongside organisational development. The Chair will be instrumental in supporting GLEN to act as an independent and credible lived experience voice, provide thought leadership and constructive challenge, and ensure lived experience insight is visible, valued and applied in decision‑making.

We welcome interest from individuals who share our commitment to independence, integrity and meaningful lived experience leadership, and who are motivated by the opportunity to help shape the future of the gambling harms system at this pivotal moment.

Thank you for considering a leadership role with GLEN.

Yours sincerely,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees
Gambling Lived Experience Network (GLEN)
