About us
In 2024 one of the biggest construction sites in Europe is gearing up for commencement. Following issue of a Development Consent Order in 2022, Sizewell C Ltd intend to construct, operate and maintain the new Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station.
More than 1,200 workers have been onboarded and the workforce will double this year. The UK government is the major shareowner and has so far committed £8bn to the project. A Final Investment Decision (FID) will be taken in the Government’s Spending Review this summer.
The coastal development site is within the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape (the nationally designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and Suffolk Heritage Coast in the District of East Suffolk. This exceptional development lies in a remarkable part of the country and an innovative approach has been taken to secure a lasting legacy for the environment and communities of East Suffolk in recognition of the challenges that come with hosting major energy infrastructure.
A National Landscape; a cherished Heritage Coast; a rich tapestry of habitats supporting rare and threatened species and vast swathes of protected marine and terrestrial reserves alongside highly productive agriculture. An area cherished by visitors and residents. An area highly vulnerable to climate change and other pressures and all with one shared opportunity to harness the benefits that the EaST can bring.
What is EaST?
