Prospectus Executive Search

Welcome

Dear Candidate,

On behalf of the Council of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT), I am delighted to invite you to consider the opportunity to become our next Chief Executive on a fixed-term contract.

This is a pivotal moment for BAAT and for the art therapy profession. As awareness of mental health and wellbeing continues to grow, so too does the recognition of the vital role that art therapy can play in helping people navigate some of life's most complex challenges. At the same time, BAAT is entering an important period of organisational transition, creating a unique opportunity for an experienced leader to help shape and strengthen the Association for the future.

We are seeking an exceptional leader to guide BAAT through a significant phase of transformation and renewal. Over the course of this two-year appointment, you will work closely with Council, members, staff and stakeholders to provide the strategic and operational leadership needed to stabilise the organisation, strengthen its foundations and position it for long-term success. This role will require a thoughtful balance of immediate organisational priorities and longer-term strategic planning, ensuring BAAT emerges stronger, more sustainable and better equipped to fulfil its mission.

We are looking for a collaborative and resilient leader with a proven track record of organisational transformation, turnaround or change management. You will bring strategic insight, strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to lead through complexity and transition. Most importantly, you will share our commitment to professional excellence, inclusion, creativity, advocacy, collaboration and integrity.

This is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact on an organisation with a clear purpose and a passionate membership community. The successful candidate will be entrusted with leading BAAT through a critical chapter in its development, creating the stability, capability and momentum that will underpin its continued success and influence for years to come

Thank you for your interest in BAAT and this important leadership opportunity. We look forward to learning more about you, your experience of leading transformation and the vision you would bring to this significant period in the Association's journey.

Yours sincerely,

Sarah Challenger
