Treasurer
Salary: Unremunerated
Location: London/National
Time commitment: 4 Board meetings, 4 committee meetings plus ad hoc support to the Director of Operations and Finance Manager. 10-12 days per annum in total.

Key responsibilities
As Treasurer of the Anne Frank Trust, you will have responsibility for ensuring strong financial oversight, governance, and accountability across the charity’s financial operations. Your duties will include:
Financial Oversight: Providing leadership in overseeing the charity’s financial health, including ensuring compliance with SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) and charity accounting standards for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Financial Planning & Reporting: Working closely with the Finance Manager to monitor and review financial reports, budgets, and forecasts. You will ensure financial information is clear and accessible for the Board, enabling informed decision-making.
Fundraising Engagement: Actively contributing to the charity’s fundraising efforts, particularly by attending fundraising events such as the annual fundraising lunch and supporting the strategy for major donors and corporate partners.
Committee Leadership: Chairing the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee, ensuring effective financial controls are in place, risk management practices are adhered to, and audits are carried out to maintain best-in-class practices.
Financial Strategy: Providing advice on the financial implications of strategic plans and guiding the charity’s financial decisions to align with its mission of empowering young people to challenge prejudice.
Board & Operational Committees: Attending and preparing for four board meetings per year (in person) and four operational committee meetings (online), ensuring that the financial aspects of the agenda are fully prepared and presented for review.
Financial Controls: Overseeing the implementation of robust financial controls and monitoring their effectiveness, ensuring that the charity maintains financial stability and is well-prepared for future growth.
Person specification
Qualified Accountant: A fully qualified accountant with substantial experience in finance and management accounting, including familiarity with Charity SORP.
Financial Leadership: A proven track record of providing robust financial leadership, with the ability to lead and work collaboratively with senior staff, including the Finance Manager and Director of Operations.
Fundraising Knowledge: Understanding of how fundraising works within the charity sector, particularly the management of major donors, corporate relationships, and individual giving.
Proactive Approach: A proactive approach to financial oversight, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify and address any issues before they arise.
Governance Experience: Experience of contributing to or chairing financial committees (such as Finance, Audit, and Risk Committees) and familiarity with the role and responsibilities of charity trustees.
Commitment to the Mission: A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and values of the Anne Frank Trust, with a particular focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
